“Abbott Elementary” is doing great. The series has officially been renewed for its third season on ABC after he won three trophies (including best TV comedy) at the Golden Globes on Tuesday. The news was announced by Craig Urwich, his original president of ABC Entertainment, Hulu and Disney-branded TV streaming, during his Winter 2023 press tour of the Television Critics Association on Wednesday.
Created by and starring Quinta Brunson, “Abbott Elementary” takes place in a Philadelphia public school and focuses on a group of educators. The group of educators have varying levels of experience and optimism, but are determined to help their students. Branson plays eager but naive sophomore teacher Janine Tiegs, with Cheryl Lee Ralph as Barbara Howard, Tyler James Williams as Gregory Eddy, Lisa Ann Walter as Melissa Shenmenti, Janelle James as Ava Coleman, and Jacob Hill. Chris Perfetti, Stanford Davis as Mr. William Johnson.

In addition to best TV comedy, the Golden Globes awarded to “The Abbott Elementary” on Tuesday were for Best TV Comedy Actress (Branson) and Best TV Supporting Actor (Williams). At the September 2021 Emmy Awards, the series was nominated for her seven awards and won her three for Comedy Casting, Comedy Writing, and Supporting Comedy Actress (Ralph). Additionally, hours before the season 3 renewal was announced, the Screen Actors Guild nominated “Abbott Elementary” for Best Comedy Her Ensemble and Best Comedy Actress (Branson).
