Hell or High Water (2016)
Before the hit TV series Yellowstone sparkled in Taylor Sheridan’s eyes, he wrote the modern western Hell or High Waters and was nominated for an Oscar for Best Original Screenplay. Certain aspects of the film – the sense of lawlessness, the exploration of morality, the ambiguity of justice – carry over into Sheridan’s current work, including various Yellowstone shows and Mayor of Kingstown.
Hell or High Water stars Chris Pine and Ben Foster as brothers robbing a bank in rural Texas. This desperate act is fueled by a desire to save the family’s ranch. Unfortunately, Texas Ranger Marcus Hamilton (Jeff Bridges) is intent on chasing them and is determined to take them down.
