Bourbon lovers have been praising the award-winning drink since American folk music icon Bob Dylan collaborated with Heaven’s Door Distillery’s Ryan Perry in 2018 (via InsideHook). There are several batches of this bourbon, including a bootleg Series II that he aged for 15 years before being transferred to Jamaican pot still rum casks.
While Dylan allows the distillery to carry bourbon, he contributes his artistry in the form of images, lyrics, poetry and paintings to marketing and branding campaigns as a full partner. In fact, one of Dylan’s paintings of him is on a bottle in the bootleg series Vol II.
According to Forbes, the collaboration came after Dylan trademarked the term “Bootleg Whiskey” to several unreleased recordings. After learning this, Heaven’s Door’s current CEO reached out to Dylan. Dylan’s song “Knocking on Heaven’s Door” is the origin of the brand name. The original Tennessee Straight His Bourbon was followed by a 10 Year Bourbon and his aforementioned 15 Year Blend.
This whiskey is sourced from a variety of US producers and has won over 35 awards. It has all the classic bourbon notes of baking spice and sugar. In addition, there are herbaceous and earthy notes associated with the proportion of rye in the distillation and filtration process.
This is, quite simply, the best celebrity-owned bourbon on the market today.
