Over the years, many celebrities have lent their voices to animated movies and shows, but it can be difficult to name the voices once the audience actually watches them. Many of the stars on the show fly completely under the radar without anyone realizing they are the voices behind the characters on screen. It can come as quite a surprise when fans later discover that there are famous faces behind these beloved characters!

2. christian bale – Thomas, Pocahontas
Christian Bale has lent his voice to quite a few animated films, perhaps most notably playing British explorer Thomas in “Pocahontas” alongside Mel Gibson, who voiced John Smith. In addition to classic Disney films, Christian also starred in the Studio Ghibli film Howl’s Moving Castle, voicing the main character Howl.
3. Fergie – Sally Brown, Peanut
When singer Fergie was a child, she voiced Sally Brown in the 1980s “Peanuts” movies and “The Charlie Brown and Snoopy Show.” After playing Charlie’s little sister for a few years, she also took on the role of Lucy.At one point, she even got to meet “Peanuts” creator Charles M. Schultz.

Before his death, John Ritter was the voice of Clifford in the beloved PBS series “Clifford the Big Red Dog.” He was reportedly encouraged to audition for the role by his youngest daughter, who was a fan of the books. It has been nominated for multiple Emmy Awards.

6. Thomas Brody Sangster – Ferb, Phineas and Ferb
Fans already knew that Thomas Brody-Sangster had appeared in ‘Love Actually’ and ‘Nanny McPhee’ as the voice of Ferb in Disney’s animated series ‘Phineas and Ferb’. Although Ferb rarely used dialogue on the show, Thomas still says he enjoyed his time working on the show.
“I always enjoy doing voice work. It’s a good way to play with characters that aren’t always cast as they are in live action. That’s certainly why I agree to do these things.” As a child, I loved the adventure of traveling the world,” he told the Evening Standard.
7. Flea – Donny, The Wild Thornberries
On Nickelodeon’s 1998-2004 Wild Thornberrys, Red Hot Chili Peppers bassist Flea voiced Donnie, the youngest member of the family. A little boy was adopted by the Thornberry family as an infant after his parents were killed by poachers. When his family found him, he was being raised by orangutans and was in pretty rough conditions.
8. Matthew Broderick – Adult Simba, The Lion King
In the early ’90s, Matthew Broderick played the adult Simba in The Lion King. The studio chose not to use his vocals for the singing portion of the film, but all the rest was Matthew. There were many roles in , but I am happy to be a part of it.

“I was surprised to find out that we voiced it first and animated it later. [Director] Don Bluth would say, “Well, this is what happens in the movies.” We try to find a picture with our mind’s eye, but they just drew the characters for us.

Fans of ‘Despicable Me’ may know that the cast includes Steve Carell and Miranda Cosgrove, but some may not know that Russell Brand also played a role Maybe! The actor played Dr. Nefario in all three Despicable Me movies and two Minions flicks.
